About

PETER NOTTON  began his career at Pratt Contemporary, where he spent 10 years as studio manager specialising in digital and silkscreen processes, reaching the level of master-printer which enabled him to engage in numerous projects with artists including Marcus Rees-Roberts,  Roger Dean and the photographer Caroline True. He also collaborated on artist’s books with Robert Vas-Dias and Monika Beisner, among many others. During that time, he acquired a wealth of experience and expertise in printmaking, artist books and mounting exhibitions, most notably those of the Brazilian sculptor, Ana Maria Pacheco, Associate Artist at the National Gallery, London from 1997 to 1999.

Following Pratt Contemporary and prior to opening Notton Art, Notton joined the prestigious Mayfair photography gallery, Hamiltons, in 2011. He continued to coordinate exhibitions of artists’ work including two shows of the Peruvian photographer Mario Testino and Don McCullin’s exhibitions at Tate Britain and Chateau la Coste in the south of France in 2019.

During the twenty-six years of his involvement in the art world, Notton has maintained a  passionate interest in what artists do. Through the gallery that bears his name, by drawing on this passion, experience and expertise, his ambition is to provide a platform for artists he particularly admires to bring their work to fellow lovers of art through curated web platforms, pop-up exhibitions and art-fairs.
